Our Story

HOW WE GOT STARTED

Previously known as Susan Dowdle School of Dance since 1999, RBS Dance Academy celebrated it's first year and concert in 2014. Specialising in Jazz (commercial and modern) and Contemporary, RBS Dance Academy also offers classes in Tap, Lyrical, Ballet, Hip Hop, Cabaret and Acrobatics, while offering the students the chance to participate in examinations throughout most of these fields.

Here at RBS Dance Academy we strive to provide our students with a safe, supportive and fair environment to enjoy a fun and knowledgeable experience in the dance industry. All our staff are appropriately trained and accredited, to be actively involved in nurturing confident learners into the world of dance. We strive to give the students a professional and educational experience, with flexibility to allow students to have fun and prepare them for future endeavors.

I love to dance because it gives an opportunity to express who you are as a person. Having the opportunity to share my love for dance with younger students is very important.

I have danced my whole life and loved every minute, I love the energy and the way it makes me feel. I would love for other students to have the experience to feel this and love dance the way I do.

I love dance because it has always been a part of my life since I was young and I always feel proud that I am one of millions of people who represent dance around the world. I want younger kids to feel proud and confident while dancing because everyone should be able to show off their talents.

I love to dance because it makes me happy and it’s what I look forward to doing in the afternoon or coming days. I want to share my love with younger dancers because I love seeing them trying to dance like us when we are on stage. I want them to some day feel the magic that I feel when I dance and be the ones that other little dancers are looking up to.

Dancing brings me so much joy and happiness and performing and dancing full out gives you an unforgettable feeling. I would love for the younger students to have the same experience.

I love how dance tells a story and the freedom in movement. I like helping the younger students as I like to share how happy dance makes me and I like to help.
